Directions and Influences - chapter 3

I had my appendix removed when I was 14 and as I was recuperating in hospital one evening watching Top of the Pops on came The Jimi Hendrix Experience with ‘Hey Joe’ I nearly ripped my stiches, I was gob smacked.

On the way home from hospital I made my parents detour to the local record store and bought the record. It never left the turntable; I went through several styluses playing it. Wow! I had never heard anyone play like that; it was like he had arrived from outer space. His playing still affects me that way.
